Is this just more Fridamania?
The concept for this festival actually began with a dinner party for Frida Kahlo's birthday, with recipes created from her own documented parties.  Unlike the Fridamania that has seen many mass-produced products marketed with Frida's portrait, our festival expanded from a dinner party to an art festival, to celebrate creations that are made by hand.  We look to Frida as an example of the powerful, independent, outspoken and opinionated woman who dismissed societal expectations, ousted high fashion for artistic, indigenous clothing, and celebrated her painful struggles through creativity with a tenacity most of us can only dream of emulating.  This festival is not about Fridamania - it is about celebrating the creative process, as a means for healing ourselves, and supporting the creatives among us, as Frida surely did.  It is about unwinding in an enchanting garden, forgetting your woes for a few hours, and losing yourself in the wilderness of your paint palette.  Art is therapy, and we invite you to join us in honoring one of Mexico's most celebrated and iconic mothers of art.
